The Artist's Model

Every week he went
To the down town studio
He worked in conté

The same mixed group there
Different model each week
High speed impression

Five, ten, minutes more
Likeness to please or throw out
Until this stunner

Steady as a rock
Best model they ever had
And curves to die for

A student of course
Earning some cash for keep
Hope she comes again

  7. ha. would be interesting to be a model if you got to see the end result...though it would take some humility as well....ha...whatever it takes eh man?

  8. Your poem made me wonder whether models like being models.

  9. Ah.. Being a model is whatever you are in the eye of the artist.. Sometimes I have thought that the ability to sit still would be what's most important.

    1. I kept that a secret, you had stripped me bare enough as it was.

  12. I often wonder how these models occupy their minds while they wait in silence while artists sketch their outward form.

  13. you made me remember a dalliance with art, sketching from a live model, then passing him on the street lowering my eyes pretending i didn't see him
thats way way back in my early past

    Have a nice Sunday

  15. Observation is a main key in drawing the contours of a person's body. I learned this back in high school during an art exhibit exam. One of the greatest tools that an artist can have in their repertoire is patience and a keen eye for detail.

  18. I have been an artist's model in the past, so have experienced this from the other side as it were. It's great to feel you're doing a good job — but oh, dear Brian, one does not have to be a beauty, only to have 'an interesting body' as they say. I often saw the end results (even have one on my wall) but they do not necessarily require humility!
