Come out to play
We moved into an old house in the country in June so many years ago and the weather was already warm so we left the doors and windows open wide to create a cool draft within.
Later as winter winds blew we closed them tight to keep what warm air there was in the room we were especially the bedrooms at night before we air conditioning.
We had hardly been in bed five minutes when we heard this scratching noise on one of the other doors so my wife nudged me and said "What's that?"
So I got up and looked out from our door and still the scratching went on so one by one I checked the others doors to see if a rat or bird or open window could make that sound until I came to a little storage room and opened that,
Without ado there was a whoosh and a grateful sigh and I was almost blown off my feet as this gust of air enveloped me and blew away I know not where.
Strangely though rather being scared out my wits I felt now calm and serene for I then realised we lived with a friendly ghost that needed just one open door to come out and play.

He woke with a start
He woke with a start
As Sue murmured in her sleep
He reached to touch her
But she wasn't there
He was all alone in bed
Lonely widower
She'd done this before
As she kept on coming back
To lie by his side
He could breathe her in
Feel the warmth of her presence
And hear her whispers
By morn she was gone
So should he find someone else
To stop her coming?
Some made eyes at him
He even dated one or two
It didn't feel right
Happier this way
He knew it was not the same
Without Sue in bed

From the deep pit
They have no names
Their flesh is putrid
Who knows what now flows though their veins
They circle round
With such ghost like moves
And drag around their heavy chains
They howl at us
Eyes now empty stare
Tangled hair from their foetid manes
What ghosts are these?
Granite looks spell fear
I think they've emerged from the drains
Such sinful deeds
That have been tabled
Emerge now to weigh upon their brains

The Haunted House
The house was haunted
With scenes of devastation
Littered with bodies
One by one they came
The lifeless zombies drifting
And drowning in the pool
What a price they paid
The impact of the carnage
Known only by us
Remote desolate
Illuminated at last
A storm needs to come
