A sweet song of love
I heard you breathing
Such soft gentle whispering
Like sweet kisses blown
In nights darkness
Just for me alone
I touched you gently
Barely rousing from your dream
You stirred with pleasure
And hummed to me
A sweet song of love
Wrapped up together
Your warm flesh now welcomed me
As we became one
T'was then you spoke
"Don't ever leave me"
By morn you were gone
You husband returned today
Just how long to wait
Until next time
Our dangerous game

Over the sand
They walked down over the sand
Close smiling holdng on tight
Her sandals held in her hand
Surf beating in careless might
Sun's flames were exhausted for
Moon's nightly rule of the sky
So seagulls now left the shore
Once they gave their last outcry
At boulder's edge they now sat
He spoke her name and she his
But touch was best not just chat
Their love was sealed with a kiss
Exhausted she clung to him
In night's blindness touch was all
As they both hugged limb to limb
Consoled by the night birds call
As in classic tales steadfast
They strolled back over the sand
Hoping that their love would last
Fingers entwined hand in hand

He held her close
The laughter lines around her eyes
Lips not so full as those once kissed
But his heart beat just like a drum
As his mind flashed back through time's mist
So many years had now passed by
Since he had seen his old girlfriend
They stopped, they talked, he touched her cheek
What chance of fate to comprehend
Her sad eyes did not leave him once
As to the coffee shop they went
He held her hand, fingered her palm
A small tear was her message sent
They talked of little and of much
They talked of children and of pain
He held her close then let her go
They both planned to meet up again

Emily's Scarf
L-R Emily Davison, Sylvia Pankhurst, Christabel Pankhurst and Emmeline Pethwick-Laurence 1910
Emily why are we fighting still?
One hundred and four year since you fell
Killed by the hooves of the King's racehorse
That sad mad day at Ascot racecourse
Few countries then let their women vote
So you walked on the grass that day
So Britain's women should do so too
A step forward for world all through
It took a war and suffering too
To get on that electoral roll
And have the right to make one small mark
Sadly parts of the world are still dark
So the battle is far from won
There is so much more to be done
Equal pay and there is so much more
Thank you Em for opening the door
Just so you know, 'twill make you proud
That scarf you wore the day you died
Is in a case for everyone to see
In the House of Commons, Emily!

Waiting for the cake
I watched you at the bench unheeded
Surrounded by the things you needed
Flour, sugar, dried fruit and more
A mixing bowl and wooden spoon
A cookbook opened on the bench
Glace cherries and mixed peel
Nutmeg, spices whatever next?
Then you called out "Rob by the way
I used your brandy is that OK?
The fruit had to be soaked last night"
I must confess my heart did fall
One wisp of hair flicked from her face
That tress made it alright with me
She's so pretty I could not be vexed
Soon the cake was in the oven
My ideas were interwoven
She glanced at me and saw my look
"About four hours" she said to me
"I'll put my feet up and read a book
Come with me, if that's what you want"
I knew that smile, plain as a text

Come my love
I woke up and found you at my side
Sleeping, breathing so quietly
I knew it was you by the scent you wore
I also knew you had gone before
As the sun rose slowly and birds woke up
Your eyes opened to look at me
I leaned across to touch your soft skin
"It's time to go" she said whispering
Pulling me by the hand the house we left
As we walked out through the open door
I turned and looked at the bed once more
And saw I lay there dead to the world
"Come my love, quickly for we must away
I have to fetch you at the break of day"
"But there's a poem that's unfinished yet"
How she laughed "Oh darling this is it"

When I look into your eyes
When I look into your eyes
I see the girl I met at school
Sitting together laughing
Making fun of all the boys
When I look into your eyes
Remembering our sleepovers
Talking and laughing all night
Until Mum banged on the wall
When I look into your eyes
I see that girl rushing to me
To tell me of her first kiss
Then I told you of mine
When I look into your eyes
I see your tears of great regret
You liked the boy I did too
But we can't share him can we?
When I look into your eyes
So happy on your wedding day
With you kissing your husband
It is me crying, not you

Paths that we once trod
I still walk the same paths that we once trod
Holding hands touching tenderly your pretty face
The first time that you first saw me you then did nod
Before long we two were wrapped in an embrace
Though we strolled alone our words were whispered love
The sun shone for us and the moon beamed on
Those summer nights now willing us our love to prove
When I awoke both you and the moon serene had gone
I'm an old man now and many tears I have now shed
Where did you go and why did you flee from me?
I dream oft of your eyes so green and hair so red
But weep alone with a sad view of the cruel sea
The waves wash in to wipe away all the words we said
But memories of our love will ever stay with me

The Bard on the web
Oh never say that I was false of heart
Even though thy sweet lips I yearn to kiss
To touch your cheek and soft breasts from the start
Yes, I confess indeed that would be bliss
But I'm so very far away from you
Oceans deep and ache of years make it worse
I want to touch your butterfly tattoo
For feelings unreleased are such a curse
Words wrote freely flow like kisses tender
I dream that you are mine everyday
Both knowing the real heart of the sender
We should like true lovers embrace and play
Everything in this world wide web doth pall
Save thou my rose thou art my very all
Note the first and last lines are used from Shakespeare's Sonnet 109 with a modern day scenario written in between.

Lighting the fire
I couldn't believe it
That you could look at me
To smile with dancing eyes
My poor heart beat so fast
It was that glance of course
That sparkle of desire
Igniting my passion
Arousing me so much
And your half open lips
Sweet, moist and beckoning
Promising tender kisses
In passionate embrace
That need to feel your cheek
Soft as a silken thread
On my grateful fingers
As you accept my touch
My head lies on your breasts
I hear your heart beating
The rise and fall of your chest
You wrap me in your arms
We explore each other
Our breath matches our hearts
Beating that drum of desire
As we become just one
Holding each other close
Grinning at this wild love
That has been lit by us
We sleep now together

Me and Annie
The last verse of Edgar Allan Poes poem "Annie" is this one:
But my heart it is brighter
Than all of the many
Stars in the sky
For it sparkles with Annie
It glows with the light
Of the love of my Annie
With the thought of the light
Of the eyes of my Annie
Following years of controversy of the meaning of Edgar Allan Poe's poem I have dared to include a final verse he may be thinking of adding now.
For we are now together
As I lay on her breast
Safe warm in bed
The best of my loves was Annie
Together in bed
How I love my dear Annie
Surely all has been said
Now please forget me and Annie

Conversation on a rainy afternoon
The rain pelted down
So I ran into the mall
My car glared at me
Shopping first I thought
Then changed my mind " No, Coffee"
The barista grinned
Girl with long black hair
Didn't ask me what I'd have
Just looked at damp me
Then asks with a grin
"It's not still raining, is it?"
She has pretty eyes
"Oh no" she then moaned
I'll be off in half an hour
I'm bound to get soaked
"I've some things to buy
Then I can give you a lift"
But she looked doubtful
I read the paper
So went to do my shopping
Then back to cafe
She was waiting there
"The boss knows you, so I'm safe
I'm glad you came back"
The rain had eased off
Car seemed happy to see us
Maybe it likes her

I remember you
How I remember you
Long black hair down your back
Walking at the shore's edge
Feet paddling in the surf
So I asked you your name
And you looked straight at me
Your eyes soft as raindrops
Then whispered "Pallavi"
So then I fell in love
We met every day
Flotsam on the rising tide
Holding hands kissing too
My fingers exploring
You happily laughing
Until that August day
You had tears in your eyes
For it was the last time
The tide was at the ebb
East wind blowing on shore
Hand in hand in silence
We walked the cool surf
I wrapped you in my arms
Both hiding the sadness
Before you were married

She felt him move
She felt him move from her side
Opening her eyes at the dawn
The sun embrarrassed blushing
Seeing her still naked form
Off to work he had to go
Not seeing she was awake
"Come blow me a wish" she thought
Put the icing on the cake
He paused, saw her naked there
Enough to return to her side
Planted a kiss on her lips
"I'll be back at eventide"
Drifting off in dreams again
Grabbed the pillow on which he'd laid
Hugged it in a warm embrace
Recalling all he had said

I met her in winter
I met her in winter
Her eyes were as green as a spring day
And my heart leapt at the sight of her
Wrapped up in her warm coat
I didn't know that she had seen me
She had for she told me later on
I'd dreamt of her that night
So I watched out for her the next day
Shyly she smiled as I waved to her
So we arranged a date
Holding her hand in the cinema
Afterwards I walked her to her home
I saw her often then
Was invited in to meet the parents
Then were allowed to use the front room
We cuddled each other
In front of the warm open fireplace
Together we hardly needed it
Then a knock on the door
Her young sister now came to join us
"It's boring out there with them" she said
I wonder even now
After our fifty years of marriage
Whether what she said was really true

Being Sensible
You and your sister planned for the future
Get together after me and her husband
Had kicked the bucket
Moved on so to speak
So it would be like your old teenage years
With no permanent men to worry about
Except one night flings
Just now and then say
It was a joke that you told the both of us
And I for one was pleased that you did so
That you'd thought it out
Being sensible
Little cottage by the sea was your plan
Except that you both died a year apart
Left us widowers
And grieving alone

It was getting dark
She stood there waiting
Clouds hiding the moon above
It was getting dark
Waiting for the bus
She was but a silhouette
Eyes just dark shadows
He watched her each night
And was entranced by the girl
She seemed so aloof
He wanted to speak
But dare not show her his face
Scarred in his childhood
But the urge was great
So he crossed the road one day
Just to say hello
"I see you often"
He said as she looked at him
She had but one eye
"Yes, I have noticed
I see lots with this good eye
The bad one sees naught"
He smiled and the said
"People judge me by my face
It is but a mask"
The bus now approached
"May we talk again?" he asked
"Perhaps meet for lunch?"
"I'm glad you asked me"
She scribbled her number down
"Ring me later then"

The park ranger
A park ranger was he
In a forest sanctuary
Loving the stillness in the trees
Eyes closed facing the autumn breeze
He loved working all day
Favorite month that of May
The babbling brook the sweet birdsong
The trees soft whisper all day long
He never would have thought
When this first new job he sought
Still now after all these years
Joy in his work brought him to tears
Oft sitting by the stream
Was obsessed as in a dream
That fairy folk did play just there
Quite safe with him without a care
They'd splash and dance and fly
Teased the fish as they swam by
Safe they felt around this kind bloke
But skittered off when he awoke
He worked for many years
The birds flew close with no fears
Snakes they knew were safe with him
Fish came close, away did not swim
One day though a hush fell
The whole forest heard the bell
Tolling, telling the wild ones too
Sadly the ranger's days were through

The wind whispered
The wind whispered gently in my ear
Come walk one last time without a fear
Tread these paths in the forest deep
Hear the streams sing and the birds that cheep
Breathe in life's spirits meant to be
Soon it will be taken away from thee
Without your kind the Earth can manage
Your fancy ways and gilded carriage
The smoke, your waste, your destructive cast
Soon comes the end of your days at last
You've gone too far your futures grey
We've been watching, hurting, fading away
But we'll survive the torment, not you
Earth will replenish there's much to do
The whales will sing in the oceans deep
And the Arctic bears no more will weep
The forests now will sigh with relief
And we'll shed not one sad tear at your grief
