A kiss in the park

I shouldn't really tell you this

But relationships are best if you kiss

I walked home from school each day

With this sweet girl whose name was Kay

I bet you think I kissed her lips then

Oh by the way my name is Ken

I found that I could always steal a kiss

When I decided on an artifice

Took her to the town's park at first

To satisfy our romantic thirst

Okay, we were tardy getting home

Just told her Ma round shops we did roam

We did stay friends for a few years

But chose new partners without tears

You were armed

How I was glad you were armed
With such sweet weapons of love
The first of course were your eyes
Eager I fell into your trap
Hearing your seductive sighs

Never had I been so keen
Breathing in your sweet perfume
The touch of your fingers soft
Such heavenly gift was that
Made my poor heart soar aloft

Your pink lips parted for a kiss
I, slave to your beck and call
Your warm body of such allure
Confirmed we had met our match
Joyful finding love so pure

Such bliss

Lonely is a soul without love
Not a touch, nor a kiss or embrace
Remembering only what if I...
Had only said some words to her face
Or even dialled her number
To hear her sweet voice
Just one last time
Instead I did
But steal away
Like a thief

I've been those days since college time
Confused thus rued my foolish wrongs
Tossed at night an insomniac
Never to cleanse my troubled mind
Yet did but see her today
Who then waved and smiled
Came up to chat
It was such bliss
To make a date
With a kiss

Dreaming of the past

Her name was Ingrid and she had long blonde hair that she flicked from her face as she grinned at me in class as I tried not to respond as I knew the teacher watched us like a hawk.

When we got out of school she wanted to take me home and show me her house and meet her mother so she held my hand which was soft and warm as she eyed me all the time as though I belonged to her.

Theirs was an old cottage with a beautiful garden and she told me her father worked on an estate as the head gardener and I could see why because it was immaculate.

So we burst through the front door and I was introduced to her mother who smiled with pleasure that Ingrid had brouight home a friend from school so gave us a drink and told us to go out into the back garden.

It was magnificent there as we made our way through a thick conifer hedge with an arched entrance that led into a wonderland of winding pathways, ornamental ponds, shaded bowers and flowers blooming everywhere.

It was magic; bees were buzzing butterflies flitting amongst the flowers and Ingrid was still holding my hand as she then turned to me and out of sight of the kitchen window she kissed me on my lips and that kiss I have remembered for the rest of my life as I sit here in my retirement home dreaming of the past.

Secret Trysts

I laughed to myself as we
Hugged and kissed each other
In the dark dank passageway
It was not the only time
That we had taken the risk
They said it was forbidden
Her and me clinched together
Oh what a feeling that was

Families quite unaware
Luckily our paths at crossed
Our eyes met and that was that
An opportunity seized
Enabling us to meet for
A few moments of freedom
Secret trysts, stolen kisses
We were both only seven

This poem tells of two young kids meeting for a kiss after school and being only seven each line of the poem contains only seven syllables. (Later: Oops I have realized I used Clinch rather than Cinch...whatever! I prefer my word.)

Emotive boyfriend

Crunch on the driveway
As I open the five bar gate
Call on the girlfriend
Before it's too late

She knows I'm coming
Her dad's an irascible man
Instills fear in me
For that is her plan

It's a sin I know
But her kisses are so sweet
The thrill of the chase
Rare times can we meet

We play for an hour
Her breath smells of mint
Has voice that trills like a bird
Now off I must sprint

I flee just in time
To hide in the trees
As I see the dust from his ute
I pray on my knees

Shiver my timbers
That's taken its toll
Although she has been all worth it
She is such a doll

To be a child again

Oh to be a child again
And run dancing in the rain
Laughing screaming in the wet
How we adults do forget

And those days of summers bliss
Of stealing that first sweet kiss
Was it Pam or was it Sue
I changed that day and so did you

Now you looked with such strange eyes
Spoke in whispers and with sighs
Yes we played much as before
That little girl from right next door

You grew away which made me sad
Though I was a little lad
I could see not all was fine
For you wished your first kiss was mine

Now you're married so am I
Secretly for you I cry
Seasons come and they go
I dream of you I really do

Oh to be a child again
And run dancing in the rain
Laughing screaming in the wet
For of those times I'll not forget

Long dark hair

It was a mixture
Of shock and utter delight
When I kissed her cheek

I was ten years old
She was in same class as me
So about that age

She had long dark hair
Stood by me at assembly
We dare not touch then

Planting that first kiss
Holding her hand on walk home
A life changing time

So girls were okay
Being invited in good
Her smiling Ma best

I dream of those days
Seeing the world first time
With much more to come

In trouble again

She'd spit the dummy
Just what had made her so tense
In trouble again

It was Christmas drinks
I had kissed one office girl
The snap had been sent

Wife checked my cell phone
Never seen her so savage
In trouble again

It's a waiting game
For she can be so vengeful
Just what can I do?

Flowers and perfume
It just has to be Chanel
I do hope that works

(It's just our secret
I kissed all the girls there
But don't tell a soul)

Summer Heat

It was summer and I woke early

as if in answer to some call of the wild

The sky was tinted golden

and it reflected in your hair as you slept

still softly breathing synchronized

with the steady tick of the clock

I gently kissed your shoulder

thinking not of the blasting heat

of the coming day but

of the heat of your love for me

there was the softest murmur

as with the tips my fingers

I traced the map of your body

you opened your eyes

and smiling, you shook your head

denying me the chance

of possessing you once more

the sun delighted by your movement

silhouetted and burst through

the waving strands of your hair

and landed a warm beam on my face

or was it a kiss from you?

you, your warmth and that of the sun

were all an integral part of our lives

we were a tonic to the other

a tincture of heaven now

before the hard times ahead.

Solitary

I’m doing solitary

I’m on my own so to speak

Without a partner

The winter is cold

Spring doesn’t blossom for me

It is my autumn

I talk to myself

With no-one to kiss goodnight

Nobody argues

If I make a mess

It is me that cleans it up

And wash the dishes

So I have to flirt

With everyone that I meet

I hope you don’t mind

My glance in the past

The problem is I cannot dance

This is an essential for romance

I should have been born raised in France

Yes, that would have improved my chance

I’m not good at idle banter

As well as not able to canter

Round a room like an enchanter

So perhaps you’ll be the granter

of a kiss, so do not grumble

When my talk turns into mumble

and all I can do is fumble

Say yes, and I will not stumble

The First Kiss

"Granddad, don't you hate it when girls kiss you?"

I looked up from trying to assemble the Lego pieces as we together attempted to make the required toy model from the instructions.

"Well, no, not usually"

My grandson then went on to explain about the pesky girls at school that tended to want ownership of one of the boys in class and he clearly had struck lucky. Or was that unlucky? He obviously thought so.

"Granddad, did girls kiss you at school?"

I tried to remember. It was long time ago. A very long time ago. No I couldn't think of one instance.

Or could I?

I think I was about ten at the time and had just changed schools. It was a bit difficult to fit in to the new school after moving house and setting up in a new town in the middle of term. However I found the schoolwork easy and some of the boys were interested in where I had come from.

It was the first music lesson that changed everything. I was not a singer and instead of sitting at our desks, we all had to stand up and being taller than most I had to stand at the back with the other tall children.

I was concerned that instead of standing with the boys I somehow was standing with a girl at my side. Tall like me she smiled sweetly at me and the singing lesson started. I mumbled away and hoped I was inconspicuous. I glanced to my side and saw that the girl by my side had very long hair that hung down her back. Her face was smooth and she had cute nose and dark brown eyes. Those eyes kept glancing my way. She then smiled at me and reached for my hand and held it in hers. It seemed so natural, so right that I didn't withdraw it from her grasp and we stayed like that until the end of the lesson.

We had not said a word.

I don't know what made me look for her as we were dismissed at the end of the day, but I did and she too seemed to be waiting for me. She said she lived only a short way from school. Her mother was housekeeper for the priest in a large vicarage she said.

"Would I like to see where I live?

I mumbled a yes and grabbing hold of my hand again she took me home.

Her mother was there waiting for her and said "Who is this?"

"Oh, this is Robin he is new at school" was her reply.

We we ushered into the house which was enormous by my standards and given glass of cordial and a biscuit and after being shown around I was escorted to the door.

Her mother had disappeared and as we said "Good bye" and "See you tomorrow" she bent over and kissed me on the lips. That was the very first time that I had ever been kissed by someone who I was not not related to. It was a moment of revelation. Something had happened that had never happened before. I had been changed forever.

I had been kissed!

By a girl!

All those years ago.

And don't even remember her name.

"Granddad? Why are you crying?"

"Because I can't even remember her name."
