I woke from my dream

I woke from my dream, just where had I been?
Seems like three hundred years ago
I worked in an architects office
Drawing boards on benches by windows
Chatter of draftsmen, pencils in hand
Erasers sitting waiting for call

"Boss has gone on an inspection"
Says Matt, whose window faces car park
Relaxing now he now makes paper planes
Smallest models, snipped and taped up
That fly about the drawing office
For half hour or so; except one day

That was when the boss returned early
We believed we'd be safe for a spell
As we had just launched our fighter jets
Door opened and in he walked unaware
He looked at Pat then at me straight faced
"Forgot to pick up the Palmer flle"

Ignoring the paper plane on the floor
I walked to the drawer and fetched the file
As he left he gave me a small grin
"Might be a long time, it's already three"
Thirsty after that fright, tidy up
Tea girls trolley is a welcome sight

Now we really must get back to work
So cleaned scraps of paper slits off floor
Pat says "Must give him longer to go"
As he fills his fountain pen with ink
While I do my given tasks quietly
Dark now, wonder what Mum's got for tea?

Curiously when I viewed the given words they allowed my to recall my very first job working in an architects office and my older workmate's passion for making paper planes in his spare time or when he was bored and this poem records the time when the boss caught us out by chance!

Waking from dream

I just woke as if from a dream
Then realized that all was not
Exactly what I thought it seemed

I shook my head and looked around
I was not  where I believed
But felt like six feet underground

I was but a mere skeleton
Comfy in my last resting place
In a cemetery in Brighton

Strangely looked from my empty shell
To see a passing worm stare at me
"Okay" He says "You're not in Hell"

"Good" I thought "Must get above ground"
"Woah!" Friendly worm then did say
"It's my job to keep you safe and sound"

I shook my skull and argued on
"What of my wife and family?"
"Surely they'll wonder where I've gone?"

Just how he laughed that little worm
"She's beside you; came down last week"
"New ones do tend to twist and turn"

So I laid back down as he said
As all worms friends got back to work
And wife and I snuggled in bed

Boys night out

Father and son to the pub they go
To quench their thirst on this cold night
Downing beers and ales to their delight
Sozzled faces gleaming with a glow

Meanwhile the missus at home alone
Watches the television sat down
Now ready for bed in her nightgown
Starved of love, dreams of another one

Who rescues her from her parlous state
And on his horse they gallop away
She holds him tight for a night of play
Their bodies entwined 'til very late

Meanwhile the men sway with the grog's grip
Get cluck from the barmaid and the boss
Against their will from the inn are tossed
So wayward home do stumble and trip

A blast of night air cools their spirits some
As they battle the wind's icy blast
To reach their own front door at last
And find missus nursing a pillow at home

Come back soon

I had you in my arms
And was kissing your lips
A hologram to hold
My darling petite fleur
For in my mind you were

There! Your familiar scent
Warm breath now on my face
So nestled close to you
Caressed your warm brown skin
Then felt you touch my chin

You're my garden in bloom
But cold like tundra's wind
My lifelong quest fulfilled
To find you standing tall
Oh, that would crown it all

Will you ever return?
To park your spirit here
Singing silly love songs
That anyone can hear
Come back soon, please be near

Hearing your voice

Startled I woke, hearing your voice
I was dreaming, 'twas just the wind
Blowing around, making a din

Pity I would love you to be here
To breathe you in and touch your hair
Kiss your lips, tell you how I care

You might whisper some secret things
We'd laugh and breathe each other in
Then your fingers would touch my skin

I opened my eyes, all was dark
Except the stars winking outside
I miss you, my eyes open wide

I lay back down and thought of you
Were you calling from far away?
...Yes, I miss you too every day
