Round in circles
I am going round in circles
That's good the planet does too
No wonder the way we treat it
It gives to us with richness
We treat it with bitchiness
We burn the forests, foul the seas
The ice caps melt and whales mourn
Wild animals starve, best in zoos?
Extract the oil and iron ore
Both are bad so what the hell for?
No good remembering the past
For as kids we were at war
Sadly no lesson this taught us
We must have loved them, they've not ceased
But still our numbers have increased
The fault sadly is in the stars
Just wait I think it should be ours!
World leaders are weak as piss
We're still keen to buy our next cars
While others plan their lives on Mars

Talking to some friends
Talking to some friends of mine
The birds, the beasts and a fish or two
Wondering what we should do
Clearly climate was in strife
Surely the creatures who were to blame
Would forfeit their lives in shame
They looked down as they discussed
And avoided glancing in my eyes
Who was at fault? No surprise!
Clearly the Earth would not survive
If the most destructive creature stayed
"Sorry sir, it's you I'm afraid"
Trying to soften the blow
They said "It's not you but all your mates"
"For you it's the pearly gates"
I tried to plead for a stay
They said "Use your brains, rocket away"
"Bio-diversity is the only way"
Then I awoke from that wild dream
For they were right and we were so wrong
We must change before that gong

The look on their faces
I've seen the look on their faces
I have seen it in many places
The sea birds shake their heads at me
When I take a walk down by the sea
Recently there's been strange looks too
Then my cat Bess whispered a clue
Stop being so foolish human
or you'll sit with the ferryman
You are causing the Earth's demise
Most of what you do is unwise
You trash the oceans and the fish
Burn the forests and demolish
Vast swathes of land that give you life
Dear animals fear gun and knife
Just so some mad millionaire
Can show stuffed animals with flair
Soon the Earth will be a desert
Is what you want just barren dirt?
With children crying without food
And only you in a joyful mood
For the best way to tend this Earth
Is love and care for all we're worth
I want to hear the lions roar
And birds in trees; nest, sing and soar

It's time to stop
Fish are dying on the sandy shore
Native species soon will be no more
As habitat drives them far away
Foreign predators will have their say
Dolphins injured at port's river mouth
Speedboats and skiers are so uncouth
Seals are gashed boats propeller blades
What one was Heaven is now Hades
Mankind is such an ugly creature
Thinks nothing of each precious feature
Struts his way around our precious world
Thinks he owns it all when flags unfurled
Forests whisper of mans many wrongs
While all wolves and whales sing their sad songs
As pollution spreads like a disease
As man sits back with arrogant ease
Everybody, please save our precious world
And let all creatures sleep safely curled
Forests breathe out so we all may live
Man! It's time to stop the take... and give!

Our lesson learned
Peace be with you
Well I hope for the best
Whether you be human
Or a bird on its nest
In charge am I
Of birds, trees, fish and seas
It's money in the bank
That's important to me
Our lesson learned
We don't mean that at all
Those humans are so cruel
Not caring if you fall
Trees they're useful
And water we can sell
Now just what did you say
Folks are living in hell?
The waste chokes us
Ice caps melting away
The seas are dying now
Strangely quiet today
We are laughing
We have made so much cash
But we are in trouble
Things are starting to crash
Nature has won
Do you hear that sweet song
It's peace on Earth day
Humans have now all gone

Enough
What strange creature is mankind
When on Earth himself did find
This rich planet to enjoy
With trees and seas and ores galore
Enough to last many years
Not meant to bring creatures tears
Mass destruction where they tread
Evoking others deepest dread
There's abundance everywhere
Yet some take more than their share
Profit is first, then their heirs
Who rape and pillage without care
Evidence for all to see
Climate change, the rise in seas
Yet poverty is still world wide
Greedy rich are not on our side
Thinking not of the morrow
Of millions grief and sorrow
As this world before our eyes
Slowly, sadly, painfully dies

Felled forest
What do we need to see the truth
Of creatures habits here on Earth
Who can tend the land and sea's song?
Who by their actions do much wrong?
One thing to eat fruit from a tree
But felled forest a shame to see
Or kill life in fossil oil quest
When sun shines each day east to west
The oceans provide so much food
But our trash and waste does no good
What dirty creatures mans kind are
Careless here at home and afar
Hibernating birds fail to come
Industry trashed their Asian home
Waste dumped in seas kill a reef
Man's a foul beast beyond belief
Politicians no problem see
All the while banks cheer with glee
Puppeteers pull strings of blind men
Thinking they'll take gold to heaven
For the climate will make a change
As storms and tides will disarrange
But man will want a profit still
Must keep money filling the till

Before our eyes
I can smell the smoke of the forest fires
And see trash floating in the Coral sea
I lose count of the bins full of plastic waste
You're right this world was a beautiful place
Oh where are the days of the paper bag?
When fruit and veg' we always washed at home
Not wrapped as now in so much plastic film
While tycoons sneer at the world; such disgace
The seas are killing fish, whales and much more
The climate's changing and we wonder why
We see wild fires burn as never before
You're right this world is a peculiar place
The Arctic ice caps melt, this is so bad
Starving polar bears mourn their now dead cubs
Few birds migrate south to visit us
Their homes in Asia built on disgrace
Who cares that our dear world changes so fast
When money builds in people's bank accounts
As the Earth dies sadly before our eyes
You're right this world is a horrendous place

An untroubled world
Oh to be in a wilderness
To start from day one
To live this life a'loving
Birds, beasts, fish, everyone
I look around and see the mess
That humans have made
On this beautiful planet
We'll get no accolade
'Was eaten by a bear last night
Which seems only fair
We raped and pillaged all our lives
A creature with no care
Just as well; we loved fighting wars
Our kind have now all gone
The world will start again this day
They'll cope now, on and on
Oh to be in that wilderness
A beautiful wild world
To live our lives a'loving
A paradise dreamworld

We need your help
"We need your help" the small voice said
"Please human we know that you are kind"
I looked around and what did I find?
In front of me and everywhere
Were mice, moths, spiders and yet more
These critters who clearly lived with me
"We need your help" they said again
Then I saw birds and butterflies
There at the window pane looking in
Clearly there was a problem true
As at the door there was a bee
That sat right down on my hand and said
"I'm the spokesman for all the rest
And I am here at their behest
The world is dying don't you know?
"Humans have hurt the Earth, it is bad
Seas filthy with you dumping trash
Forests felled, wildlife killed, end is near"
"Oh man, can't you see? Pity me
Chemicals have killed bees galore
Plants only seed if we fertilize"
"What can I do, I'm a writer?"
It was just then he looked brighter
"Good then you can tell the whole wide world"
So it was, we then worked and planned
For mountains, forests, seas and sand
Room for one and all...except for man!

So says the wise owl
What vanity in this creature
That calls himself Homo Sapiens
And does his wisdom surpass all?
Beasts, birds and fish are merely peons?
His eyes tend to be not so hot
Uses just two of his long limbs
To walk or run which seems so strange
Voice that prattles at every whim
Animals fight for lives and kin
But humans do it just for fun
Hits with fists and spears and arrows
Fights as well with bombs and guns
This creature thinks he is so clever
Digs metal, chops trees just to make
Planes and ships for deadly war games
Not live in peace for pities sake
He plays with plastics and poisons
Then fouls the Earth with deadly waste
Knowing all that is very bad
So plans new home in far off space!
One day Earth with be clean again
The forests spring alive and green
Animals in safe habitat
The seas and rivers sparkling clean

Our last chance
Temperature change 1951-2015
Mother Earth listens to us
But we don't hear her at all
I've seen changes over years
For she has shed many tears
Mankind has prospered that's true
Nothing's sacred any more
We've felled the trees, trashed the seas
Brought the planet to its knees
Human acts are waste of time
Rivers dry, climates change
Drill for oil or dig for that
So we trash the habitat
Money dulls the brain of man
Doesn't matter we can't breathe
Bank balance he wants to hear
Who cares for whale or bear
Spirit of the world please come
Save this place we call home
I'm writing now, please help us
We're not all contemptuous

Dying of thirst
He licked the last of the muddy water
A gritty taste in his still parched mouth
He then sought shade under a rocky crag
To lay him down to rest
Thumping heart in his breast
The grass all gone even the trees had died
Whose roots sought water to the very last
Leaves had fallen and then their limbs did sag
Bleached bones lay around
All quiet not a sound
Streams and rivers no longer flowed to seas
Now just putrid lakes of floating corpses
Along with every man made plastic bag
Millionaires flew to Mars
Left a few rusting cars
The last to die were the forgotten ones
Who had lived their lives in Earth's barren zones
Isolated, dark eyed whose limbs were but scrag
Nature's children for years
They too now shed their tears
They dreamed of Earth in days of glory past
Children playing in the rain, skies overcast
All was green and fruit in trees made them sag
Life filled lakes, rivers, seas
Man, you can never please
He licked the last of the muddy water
A gritty taste in his still parched mouth
He then sought shade under a rocky crag
To lay him down to rest
Last heart beats in his chest

I am old and my bones ache
I am old and my bones ache
As a child I saw the dark
By growing up in wartime
Everyone had so little
Except those that stole and cheated
But then it seemed much better
I could run around quite free
Couldn't afford very much
But it all looked good to me
But not those that stole and cheated
We thought we were quite well off
Home, food and saving money
Bought a car and house as well
All on the never never
But not those that stole and cheated
Changed my job a few times
Travelled the whole wide world
Wars and poverty still rife
Our world dying a slow death
Thanks to those that stole and cheated

The last straw
I wonder whether the creator being in forming the Earth zillions of years ago thought much about that last link in his or her jigsaw puzzle of this planet Earth that was humankind?
I am sure natural selection
was planned so humans would forsake their apelike cousins and think things out
a bit more than other species.
This was probably a test to
see how far they could go to improve their comfort by keeping warm in winter’s
snow and ice and shielding themselves from the sun as the sun beat down in
summertime.
I bet he was so proud as
tools were made and holes dug and all the things on earth were used to make
human’s families safe and well and speaking of that how pleased he must have
been when the first well was dug to find water when the rivers and streams ran
dry.
Then over the last few hundred
years he must have sat back in pride to see how well sickness and diseases were
controlled and cured but a little concerned that his humans kept of finding ways
to make explosions to fight their neighbours who looked or spoke differently
from each other.
The last straw was when mankind
decided to change the climate by burning the forests, polluting the seas and creating waste and killing
off all the beautiful creatures and plants that he had formed millions of years
ago to keep everything stable so he or she sadly shook his head and said “this is the
last straw it is time to break that link, we will send them all to Mars.”

Take me back
Take me back, take me back do
To that sandy shore
When I am no more
Sprinkle my ashes in the deep
Let the waves kiss me goodbye
As forever I lay
Do not cry for me
For there is no need to weep
Cry for the oceans and seas
From whence all life came
Fish, whales, dolphins too
Crabs, shrimps and others that creep
You've trashed land and rivers too
Forests are aflame
Icecaps they now shrink
This rich world you've made so cheap
Now you humans take the blame
Change your ways quickly
Before it's too late
Greed's been sown, it's time to reap

What's happening?
What's happening to our world?
As we now cringe in mortal fear
Are terrified of rulers vain
That will destroy all we hold dear
Happiness is so hard to find
Despite our Earth's once rich domain
Too many greedy and cruel in charge
Some of our leaders seem insane
With forests felled and icecaps gone
Wild animals search for a home
Our waste strewn across all the Earth
Our rivers filled with toxic foam
What's happening in our world
Please let there be a hopeful light
To see a future for all kids
I fervently pray that I'm right

Sand through my fingers
Little did I think playing on the beach
A child many years before
Those sand castles, moats and dams that I built
Were mountains in days of yore
As the sea washed over my little toes
I knew not what came before
That my ancestors had crawled up on this beach
A new place to live they saw
For as I hopped and skipped without a thought
As I grew each year by year
We had once feared wild beasts and birds around
Pets now that I hold dear
Did they stay close or forsake Mother Sea?
To find a safe place to hide
Live in a cave or construct a wood hut
Safe from predators abide
Mankind has struggled many years thus far
Now to reach this point in time
But found it best to fight in bloody wars
And to trash this Earth sublime
As the sand through my fingers now does run
A tear runs down my face
This paradise in which we once lived
Has been made hell in its place

Our planet bleeds
Black feathered crows now fly overhead
Their eyes following our turmoil below
We're the carrion that will feed their chicks
For so many a long year to come
I sign with sadness as I think of us
For our selfish cult of greed has grown fast
Our planet bleeds with horror at the news
While Earth spins around life giving Sun
We elect our leaders that destroy this land
Who decide to grab as many bucks they can
The human race jinxed by such shallow greed
So deciding the fate of humanity

Sadness fills my heart
Sadness fills my heart
As things change around me
I'm yesterday's man
I can still see well
But not what others now can
Future's not for me
What joy in the wild?
When birds and animals flee
Forests disappear
I love the wild surf
But plastic is washed on shore
And fish are long gone
The coral reef bleaches
Makes way for bulk carriers
Ugly commerce wins
Sand blows in my eyes
Rivers find not the ocean
My tears are no help
I'm yesterday's man
As things change around me
Sadness fills my heart
