In the wild surf

The susurration of the sea
Whispered welcome for you and me
Back at the beach of our delight
Strolling sands of silvery white

I hold your hand you skip away
We chased in the wild surf that day
You're different though and don't say much
So keen to escape from my touch

The warning bells they now have rung
Silence says our song's now been sung
Now as we wend our way back home
You love's gone in the oceans foam

The crashing waves the gulls that cry
Fill my mind as I wonder why
Shall I go to that beach again?
Or will it cause just too much pain

  1. It is hard when one drifts away with the waves...I think a visit to the beach might be good as you can break the silence and perhaps, discover new sounds.

  2. Its difficult when silence comes between two people and causes them to drift apart. Well penned.

  3. I hear what you are saying. Sometimes it is hard to go back to places which bring back those painful memories! It may take years sometimes..... You have expressed this concept very well.

  4. Places get stuck in those memeries. We go three with the expectation that it will be the same and its not. We go there expecting it to feel different, and its not. I love the ocean though, that is where I go to listen to the waves in the silence.

  5. silence need not be golden all the time...it might feel different going back to the place again...

  6. The relationship for a surfer with the sea predominates over that with a person. No associations.

  7. It would be hard to go back if we expect it to be the same...if however we can find a new place there perhaps it would be soothing? I love the susurration of the sea...it seems to be contrary to the story but constant...inviting a consistency that people can't maybe?

  12. Nice. I like the rhyme and there's a wisdom about relatonship in this. Silence can say so much.

  15. The ocean is where we make so many memories from when we are small and teasing the foam to when we are lovers hoping the moment will never end.
    Poignantly silent

  16. Lovely....Since time immemorial, humans have been captivated by water...but, it's hard to understand the ties between people, isn't it? Sigh!
    Beautiful piece...and the photo

  17. A melancholy song to the siren who has sung her final song to you... Her eternal silence will make any subsequent visit to that beach a painful one.
