I heard a growl from heaven

I heard a growl from heaven

And a shiver ran through me

Perhaps it was near my time

It was a hell of a time to go

Much too late to make amends

Too soon to heal all wounds

The root of my problem was why?

Should I plan to pack my bags

Or would I burst onto the scene

And joins the motley rows

Slowly pushing forward

And being directed

To those escalators

Either up or down

Or do I still have a choice?

  2. There's always the bit in the middle to hope over..or just sit in the station..middle ground gets written off..but it's an important decision..no harm in waiting..having a slice of fruitcake and a cup of tea whilst everybody jumbles and jars..

  5. It's hard to remember that those moments of indecision are only moments. They seem like forever and perhaps we should learn how to sit back and relax within them and try to remember that life goes on no matter what we might decide.

  7. Stubborn choices. You can't fully understand them until you've made them final.

  8. I'm glad we are free to choose. Nicely done! I'm pretty sure which way that escalator is headed in your case.

  9. Oh I love this, you do have a choice. Tell God off (trust me, he can take) and you'll be back in your warm bed in no time.

  13. Great piece... full of anticipation. I like the image of a growl from Heaven. Is there an angry God in this poem? I suppose if there is a choice between up and down... there must be. I like to imagine that heaven is a place on earth...Nice one.

  15. I'm not much of a believer in the up or down but I believe very firmly that we all still have a choice in how we live our lives
