A part of me
The beauty of marriage
Is that we both become
Whole, not less in union
I'll love you always
When we are alone
When the children steal you
When they leave home
Now that you have gone
You'll always be
A part of me

My Beloved Sandra and I just celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary (though we've been together for almost 3 decades). Marriage ruins nothing.
ReplyDeleteWow...a 30 year engagement....Best not to rush into things:)Congratulations !
DeleteI love the way you repeated the title in the end line, Robin, and the way you described marriage. Your poem brought tears to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteThis is heartwrenchingly beautiful, Robin ❤️
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Robin. How wonderful to have had that.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to always have her love. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat's so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is so very touching, Robin. The way marriage should be except that one has passed away. The survivor takes it hard and never quite recovers. Time mellows but never all the way. My mom lived to be 88 but Dad lived on to age 97.
ReplyDelete..
This makes my heart ache just a little bit. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful..I agree with Kerry..It does make my heart ache a little bit.
