I watch the wedge tail eagle fly

I watch the wedge tail eagle fly
Soaring around high in the sky
Morning sun shines he sees for miles
He's king up there and so he smiles

And so do I so near the sea
I'm glad the shore is close to me
The beach is calm for its mid week
So sit me down to have a peek

I do not have to wait too long
Before some dolphins come along
Elated with this gorgeous day
I'm glad my walk took me this way

Once before I had walked this path
When oceans fury was in such wrath
All birds and critters had long fled
As sailors benediction said

Certainly it's great in the wild
I have gone there since a small child
There's a prophecy that does say
"Let nature nurse you every day"

If we could nurture nature too
Not see forests embers burnt through
Humans should take a gentler line
Then everything would turn out fine

  1. I hope that you've written this poem from experience, Robin, as I am so envious of the lines:
'I do not have to wait too long
    Before some dolphins come along
    Elated with this gorgeous day
I'm glad my walk took me this way'.

  2. I so resonate with loving nature since i was a child, and longing for humankind to wake up to how to live more gently on her.

  3. Oh yes, we do need to begin to nurture nature again - in the same way that nature has always nurtured us!

  4. Let nature nurse you.. if we just could do that, who would ever want to hurt her.

  5. Oh, I agree: Nature nurtures and heals us, and we need to be ever so gentle with it--before it's too late.

  10. We do live in a wonderful country ... in a beautiful world. I agree, of course, with your closing sentiments – sadly yet hopefully.

Just how much untold sustenance that nature is able to provide. Yet there are elements bent on destroying blessings accorded to humanity!

  14. I know I seek nature for nuturing ... if only we could return the favor in kind!

  15. Oh! If each of us remember that nature needs as much nurturing as any other living thing, our home planet would probably be a paradise.
