Clear Blue Skies

Oh how I long for clear blue skies
Sandy beaches and mountain range
Stuck working here from dawn to dusk
I need the sun, I need a change

Want to leave the blocks of flats
Rattling trains and factories grim
Rushing people, bus, train and tram
I need wild; fill me to the brim

Now I'm framed on every side
Like a robot trapped in brickwork
Moving one way, turning around
Must do something, I'll go berserk

Just heard branch office opens soon
At the Gold Coast, that's great; Hurray!
Application in; book me up
Get to go there next Wednesday

Note: The laugh here is that The Gold coast is a very popular tourist resort with lots of high rise apartments but does have excellent beaches and a hinterland to explore but work will be much the same!

  1. It's getting harder to find the wild. Even the wild animals are having a hard time finding some. Beautiful photos, Robin.

  2. Ah, the stifling nature of the cities can make anyone go berserk. I am glad that our narrator found what they desired.

  4. LOL - well, at least it's a different view through the office window now. Hopefully a three day weekend will arrive to give the subject some time to play tourist in their new city.

  5. This is beautiful!❤️ I too long for sandy beaches and clear blue skies. Right now it's extremely dry and cold here in my part of the world.

  6. This reminds me of the days when I used to calculate how much staring out the window would be noticeable. :)

  9. Sometimes the need for the beach can be overwhelming. I don't go there anymore, but I remember when I did.

  10. Love the imagery in this Robin! We could all use more wild and less hustle and bustle city. I hope you really do get a beach holiday!

    1. You're right it was even depressing 30-40 years ago! It's better further north where the crocodiles are.

  16. Ha ha, the Gold Coast is hardly my idea of getting away from it all. Come and see me in Murwillumbah instead, and I'll take you to wild, largely empty beaches or to the rainforest and the mountains.
