In the street of the sky night
Walks scattering poems
That man that I once was
And one I might have been
Now gone with no hand to hold
With no sweet lips to kiss
No breast to lay my head
No more sad tears to be shed
Oh, to be able to touch you
Once more with me in bed
Perhaps you read my words
Of all this my poetry
Will you clap your hands in glee?
Find me, then hand in hand
Walk scattering poems
In the street under night's sky

The sadness, loneliness are palpable in your poem ...
ReplyDeleteNow gone with no hand to hold
ReplyDeleteWith no sweet lips to kiss
No breast to lay my head
No more sad tears to be shed
Separation from whatever reasons is such a cruel thing. One's emotions are tested fully in serious cases!

Oh Robin this is heartwrenchingly beautiful!💖
ReplyDeleteUndoubtedly she will! And perhaps Andrew and I will keep you company sometimes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely double date. :-)
DeleteShe would want you to join her in clapping in glee!!
ReplyDeleteThe longing is alive and tender in this one. And I just know her hand is clapping and her heart is beating for her love.
ReplyDelete"man that I once was
ReplyDeleteAnd one I might have been"
are intriguing lines. The loss here coincided with the loss of 'her', Sadly it seems neither will not be soon restored. Wonderfully meshed, Robin.
..
Yes, she would want you to smile, love life. Yes, I can feel the longing and love in this beautiful poem.
