She'd watch me

It was a beautiful morning
The sea was calm as the sun shone
Now rising from the distant sea
Like a bare breasted nubile maiden
And throwing light in my window
The ancient, teasing man that was me

Then as she crossed sky's mighty arc
She'd watch me as I spent my day
Travelling, working all crammed in
Even shining on my girlfriends face
She'd be there peeking from the clouds
I love them both but is that a sin?

She was my friend and warmed my heart
Better than her small friend the moon
Who deigned to visit in the dark of night
Sailing her chosen path and time
Coming, humming a mournful song
While sun winked in the now failing light

  11. I think this is a lovely vision of falling in love with the moon. There can not be any jealousy with a girl like that.

  14. Sometimes the things that we love are exactly because of the contrasts between them....you have depicted that so beautifully!

  16. I love the white sun winks, moon sings a mournful tune, but it always touches me in a soulful way.

  18. Both the sun and the moon are beautiful to the speaker of this poem, I think, although the speaker does seem to favor one over the other.
