Where are you?
Just where, oh where has my true love gone
Will she come back singing a sweet song
Will we hug and dance in the forest deep
Or will she just curl up with me to sleep?
To wake and look at me with eyes of green
Telling me of the things she has seen
As she holds me close and breathes in my face
We kiss and rest in loves sweet embrace
But when I wake I am cold as stone
To find she has now left me all alone
But there is a note written in her hand
"My love, you'll find me in some other land"
Must I search for her taking Charon's boat?
As the wind whistles a mournful note
To find her in some Arcadian bliss
To greet me in sylvan glade with a kiss

You really capture the ebb and flow in this romantic poem Old Egg - very enjoyable
ReplyDeleteA beautiful poem with bitter-sweet words and mythical touch.
ReplyDeleteA lovely piece to read.
ReplyDeleteSuch a heart-stirring write, Robin!❤️
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of contention going through in courtship. It makes life more interesting and beautiful! Very true Robin!
ReplyDeleteHank
Having to take Charon's boat is an ominous sign.
ReplyDeleteYes, real ebb and flow in this Robin - altogether delicious... Some echoes of Hank's piece this week here too
ReplyDeleteThe search for that true love is never ending....this poem shows longing as well as nostalgia!
ReplyDeleteOh! This is quite sad. I thought of Orpheus and Eurydice even before the reference to Charon.
ReplyDeleteCharon's boat add the darkness to this longing...
ReplyDeleteNice classical tones. The pinning for that kiss, most of all.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Sunday Robin
Much love...
The longing for love never ends. Beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteI actually sighed when I finished reading this one, Robin. I love the sweetness, the gentle longing, the hope...
ReplyDeleteSo beautifully written, such longing to find that special someone.
ReplyDelete"My love, you'll find me in some other land." A comforting thought, though the interim can be lonely.
ReplyDeleteOh Robin, almost had tears flowing, as I read the end of this poem. Do hope, in your next incarnation, you'll find her, again, to continue your journey, once more.
ReplyDeleteSuch yearning makes me sad. Yet you've written something beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis is quite beautiful.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the way in which you tinted this piece with a classical aura, so befitting the classical theme of elusive love. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis has a faery-like quality to it, as well as the yearning. Surely she visits in dreams? It's not the same, but....

ReplyDeleteSometimes life is filled with such longing...only to miss what is right here, right now?
