Playing in the rain

Alone that morning
She stared out of the window
Reminiscing back

All those years ago
Children playing in the rain
Such happiness then

They were all gifted
Now gone, oh so far away
As the clock ticked on

Intense loneliness
The teeming rain wept for her
As the rot set in

  1. So true. It tells a true story.time marches on and children move away sometimes too far away.

  2. Oh, how very sad.

I feel the rot setting in here!
...and that reminds me of a day when I was a child. It was raining on one side of the house but not the other. I had the grandest time circling the house. It was amazing.

  3. I liked the teaming rain, but wasn't too crazy about the rot setting in. But it was fun to think about children playing in the rain.

  4. Part of the sadness of such a memory is the knowledge that not all potential gets used to good effect. Yes, people disperse, but they do it in more ways than just physical space.

  5. Life feels like that sometimes, especially when one is an introvert. I tended to get bullied when I was a kid. I sometimes think back on that innocent child I was who had so much kindness to give, and the suspicious wounded soul that I've become weeps for her.

  6. How cruel for parents. But it happens all the time. The children are happily creating new nests, good for them. They have no thoughts for others parents or otherwise!. Great lines oldegg!

  7. Beautifully written..really sank into my soul like age and mould...but even big children need 'grown ups' looking out for them

  8. Empty nest syndrome. I'm trying to look at it as a way to do all the things I couldn't do because I was tired to heath and home. Now it's my turn to splash in puddles and not care what anyone thinks :D
