At the Jazz Club

Friday night at the Jazz Club
Beat resounding foot stomping, cheering
You're sitting on a bar stool drinking

I see your cute face eyes half smiling
Challenging me to sing my love song
Leaning on the upright piano

The rhythms of my heart betray me
Pounding like a wild kettle drum
To some long past ragtime melody

Root problem was I didn't sing that well
After the song she says "That's unusual"
She then whispers "Back to my place then?"

  1. Sometimes it's not how you sing that matters but that you sing... ;-)

How one's performance can be mesmerizing to admirers even though it might not be perfect. One can never tell!

  6. Sometimes the way something is sung is less important than what is in the heart of the singer!

  10. This verse is just wonderful, one has to watch that beat as it pounds deep.

  11. A lovely rendition of what appears to be the beginning ....true love or a casual encounter....who knows! Well drawn words!

  12. I guess 'unusual' worked for her then ;-)

  13. Well, I think it was all in the eyes - they are the window ... or so I've heard. Smiles.

  14. Not so perfect singing is fine as long as it comes from the heart. It's more raw and geniune, Robin.

  17. It sounds like she was willing to overlook his root problem, but her invitation could be the root to other problems for her.
