Girl on a park bench

I wondered why people didn't sit
In the middle of park benches
But chose to sit at one end or the other

Was it because they were so cross
That they sat in the middle like Sue
Because I was so very late to arrive

She had bare legs, her toes wriggled
With annoyance or craving
Lucky I'd bought her a strawberry icecream

When she saw what I was holding
She moved over to the left side
Nature's asymmetry was restored again
