The Usual Complaints
Mewling and puking as a baby child
Having too much to drink when I was wild
Bumbling my wedding day speech as a groom
Finding somewhere to live with plenty of room
Waving goodbye to our children as they wed
Now as years wear on,
being alone in my bed
That pretty much sums it up...but each one is a lesson, and with age comes wisdom. Hopefully the fond memories outweigh any regrets. Simply said, you said a lot.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful little verse that captures the stages of life so well, each with their concerns and complaints. I recall how we used to fuss as children's fingerprints and clutter, and would love to see those little hands present in our houses now! This was lovely, it started my morning with a wistful smile, Robin. Thank you for a very well done Six Sentence Story!
ReplyDeleteI like the mewling and puking Shakespearean references.
