Come back soon
I had you in my arms
And was kissing your lips
A hologram to hold
My darling petite fleur
For in my mind you were
There! Your familiar scent
Warm breath now on my face
So nestled close to you
Caressed your warm brown skin
Then felt you touch my chin
You're my garden in bloom
But cold like tundra's wind
My lifelong quest fulfilled
To find you standing tall
Oh, that would crown it all
Will you ever return?
To park your spirit here
Singing silly love songs
That anyone can hear
Come back soon, please be near

ReplyDeleteRobin, I know that you can't see this, but a smile graces my face. Something, I can say, hasn't happened a lot, recently.

ReplyDeleteYou've roused some tears, Robin. :)
ReplyDeleteA sad, and lonely write...longing for what is not, is a part of life, no way around it.
ReplyDeleteLuv the all natural question posed in the last verse
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday Robin
much love
I so know that wishing for the beloved's return. Sigh. Beautiful, Robin.
ReplyDeleteEmbracing an illusion? Ah, it happens to all of us sooner or later.

ReplyDeleteSo lovely, so filled with love and yearning...
ReplyDeleteWill you ever return? One can feel the need and longing to know.
ReplyDeleteThis sort of longing releases the kind of energy that not even a dream-being can ignore. I suspect she'll come back. And the dream will grow and grow and grow...
ReplyDeleteLonging and sadness is all through this poem. And love as well.
ReplyDeleteThere is such a tender quality to the sense of longing in this piece--beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI can only echo the comments above--this was poignant and it made go hug those in the next room.
ReplyDeleteWho could say "no" if it is in their power to return?
ReplyDeleteI think they do visit ... but cannot stay.
