A small endowment

I talk to the earth
Soon I shall know her in spades
She knows me for sure

I sing to the sea
I hear her sad sirens call
She whispers to me

I hear the wind's song
It tells our history so well
All over the world

Have I told my tale?
Will there be thunderous applause?
That I did no harm

Let me rest in peace
Let children see earth's beauty
A small endowment

For it has great worth
Please make sure you value it
It's worth more than gold

  1. Wow, great title, great poem! The tone is one of calm resignation, of hope for the earth and the future. Applause from me!

  2. Loved it..! :D It evokes a feeling of peace and tranquility.. It asks us to stop once in a while and appreciate the beauty of Earth. And perhaps help preserve it as well :D

  8. What a stunning photo!! I love the idea of wondering if there will be thunderous applause for doing no harm. We should all keep that more in the forefront of our minds.....to keep ourselves accountable to what it is we are doing to the earth. Beautiful, beautiful poem.

  15. A beautiful poem with such a gentle tone, yet it hides a great message and hints at the terrible destruction that we are responsible for as dwellers of this, our wounded planet.
