Renewal


The gaunt figure stirred

His coffee break now over

He got back to work


He dug the damp soil

Springtime was his favorite
Life in renewal

Vile bodies wriggled
Decomposure meant good crops
He smiled happily

  1. Love the way you sum this up, he smiled happily. Also, the double take on the first and second lines. I know it's not meant to, but it could read - The gaunt figure stirred his coffee. I just like things like that, well thought through.

  7. News...Farmers don't dig anything by hand, They use machinery...air conditioned tractors with a sound system...well they do where I live in the country anyway.!
