Walking the dark forest

I so like walking the dark forest
Happy to see wombats and possums
Foraging in the bush with others
With some shrieking birds in the blossoms

But the worlds's changing it's sad to see
Forests on fire and wildlife failing
Our careless greed affects all of us
Now Covid keeps us scared and wailing

We're worried to share or walk outside
We watch others from our window pane
Nibbling on our last cans of supplies
Faces are scared you can feel the strain

Some are inclined to ignore the threat
Acting as though it won't affect them
Others open their curtains with such fear
Believing it's the start of Bedlam

I recall almond eyed Chinese girl
Reading the news a few weeks ago
Now the disease is spread far and wide
Death count rising and there's more to go

  8. Stay in and stay safe, Robin. I have been in for a week. Those who are still carrying on are spreading the germs, wish they would stay home too.

  10. It is indeed a surreal time in our lives. Let us pray something positive will come of it, and we relearn the lesson of compassion and loving our fellow man.

  13. Hang Tight, Robin (you are of an age to remember that Hawaiian greeting. This fits so many of us all over the world. This morning our metro area, Houston, Texas, case count rose overnight to 973, it was in 600's last night.
We have pretty places at both ends of our street, trees, grass all over, walking trails and sidewalks.
A search (Cinco Ranch Walking Trails) showed "With more than 14 trails covering 122 miles..." at our age we can't walk all those from out locked down home.

  15. I have faith that it will soon be over and we mere earthlings will be stronger for it but only if we keep our humanity intact.
    Be of good cheer!
