The fantasy of love
My wife was not an early riser
I could not believe my bleary eyes
For she stood there by the window
Sun was shooing mists of night away
Chop, chop she said let's go for a walk
That thought had never crossed my mind
My unwritten law in this home of ours
Is agree on matters such as this
Servicing the car is left to me
We hiked to the peak above the bay
To see what we could spy this fine day
Far down below at the boating ramp
And there beyond to those distant shores
Where fierce dragons lurked and goblins teased
Such were the silly games we played
Morning's air was somehow fresher here
The drone of insects now abuzz
Bucks and does stood in woodland glades
My wife was radiant as ever seen
Sun warmed up as we retraced our steps
Such a morning could not be matched
For life's a jig-saw that is so true
Each piece important as the others
But finding love beats all the rest

True.
ReplyDeletelife is a jigsaw indeed...fitting all the parts, some better than others.
ReplyDeleteAnd never can love be more brilliant than in such a morning walk... Love what you can find beyond the hills.
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe sometimes you have to mix up the pieces to rediscover the joy of fitting it all together again
ReplyDelete"Such a morning could not be matched" it's so wonderful to have such precious moments in life, specially to be cherished in future..
ReplyDeleteSun warmed up as we retraced our steps
ReplyDeleteSuch a morning could not be matched
Sigh.. beautiful lines...
I loved your conclusion! Yes, of all the beautiful things in life, love discovered and lived is definitely the top of the list! Indeed, life can be an interesting 'hike' at times.
ReplyDeleteLast line, to that i say YES
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful Sunday Robin
much love...
I smiled all the way through this, especially at agreeing "in matters such as this" and servicing the car being left to you. LOL. Love the visual beauty of the place you described so beautifully and completely agree with your closing lines. You were blessed, my friend.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wise man to 'agree on matters such as this'. And those special moments together in nature do provide....
ReplyDelete'For life's a jig-saw that is so true

Wow. What a great piece.
ReplyDeleteA great testimony to love and a loved one...
I chuckled at:
My unwritten law in this home of ours
Is agree on matters such as this
Servicing the car is left to me.
I smiled at:
And there beyond to those distant shores
Where fierce dragons lurked and goblins teased
I nodded at:
For life's a jig-saw that is so true
Each piece important as the others
Your lines are smoothed so well, and paced nicely.
The whole poem flows like refreshing stream into that bay you visit.

Am only an occasional fan of jig-saw puzzles, but love is always the best,
