Sorrow swims in my tears Eggs fall from my broken basket I am like a sheep sheared Since you have gone I feel like chasing you Orpheus and Eurydice For I am missing you so much Now you're not here I keep memories of you Sorting through those sweet remains Photos, perfume, a lock of hair Which is not wise Pilgrims suffer of course My sorrow has a jagged edge It hurts so much without you Future unknown Image found at www.tekensvandetijd.nl
It is not human to not look back and seek and miss the ones we love..is it not wise to touch what they touched..bring back the memories..or is it testament to living and being? I think the latter..
This poem breaks my heart a little, and then makes it whole again. Loss is a terrible thing, an emptier of soul... With the anniversary of my little brother's death so near (in 7 days), your poem hits home... and stays there.
This is very sad really. It is hard to live without someone who is no longer there. I would hope that the future that is 'unknown' might bring a few good thing. There is always hope around the corner.
You have some great lines in here. I felt sad reading this. The loss is palpable, the last line leaves such an emptiness. I like the deep feelings depicted here.
Can we ever part completely? Or do we wish to go to Hades and bring love alive again? I think we need to keep the memories, it does sound wise to me.

ReplyDeleteReally well done. I particularly like that first stanza.
ReplyDeleteOh those memories that keep haunting us....beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour poem overflows with sadness, with longing, with hopelessness. The sweet remains are little more than a flickering candle in the gloom.

So strong, "future unknown," because it is unknown to us, it is a place for escape and all possibilities.
