In my garden now
Where hard toil reaps my reward
There’s competition
In the breezy springtime
Be so careful how you go
Strangers are afoot
You will discover
So many hairy monsters
Have their work to do
Moths and Butterflies
Have laid their eggs in love
Eat my vegetables
Should I begrudge them?
They’re so beautiful when grown
Fairies in my mind

Does your mind work in, um, strange ways? You know: hairy monsters as fairies? ;)
ReplyDeleteOne tends to forgive them for what they are going to be! That is being noble! Great lines old egg!
ReplyDeleteHank
Better fairies in your mind that gremlins gnawing away at it:)
ReplyDeleteI guess we each have to decide whether we will grow vegetables or butterflies!
ReplyDeleteor just eat nibbled vegetables. doesn't sound so bad. :) this was lovely.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you won't accidentally eat one with your lettuce!
ReplyDeleteI love that garden...i suspect it is a head one partly...a great place to cultivate fairies..we all need to do that at times
ReplyDeleteI have the same mixed feelings about caterpillars.

ReplyDeleteI am absolutely enthralled by the caterpillar to moth/butterfly transformation. It's absolutely magical. But I still squash them if they are on my vegetable.
