Flew to Samoa years ago
Girls are pretty as you know
Took trip to Savaii isle
At virgins grave were beguiled
Low in sky our plane soared
Welcomed there and not bored
Saw grave midst of lava field
Only spot lava did yield

I have not been there nor seen a lava field. What a sight from the plane.

A very excellent poem with perfect meter and rhyme. I enjoyed reading it.
ReplyDeleteNicely rhymed against a melancholy subject.
ReplyDeleteThose last two lines are poignant. It must be a fascinating place to see.
ReplyDeleteGorgeously rendered, Robin!💝
ReplyDeleteHow strange the lava spared the grave site. That must have been fascinating to see, and no doubt many legends deify the virgin buried there. As you can see, your poem engaged me!
ReplyDeleteI have walked lava-fields on Teneriffe... but there where no graves spared as this. Amazing
ReplyDeleteI can’t imagine seeing a lava field. Your description is beautiful and rhymed perfectly, as always.
