It is winter here

Good! Wednesday rolls around, hurray!
Do I choose poetry or prose today?
Can I write something to match my mood
Will it be love, sport, disease or food?

Shall I rhyme words for rhythms sake
Will there be lovers or food to bake?
Shall I drag out the past once again
Perhaps not that subject just causes pain

Thens there's Covid which bores me stiff
Forget that, let it be my midriff
No getting out but at home I'm sat
Not walking enough so tummy's fat

For downunder it is winter still
So expecting a big power bill
Come on Spring show us your powers
And brighten us up with some flowers

Downunder is slang name for Australia

  6. My love of rhyme finds solace here, Robin. We're kindred quarantinians....you in the throes of winter, and I in the sweltering midwest humidity of summer. Thank heaven it's rhymin' time!

  7. Your tummy and my tummy seem to be dealing with the same troubles. May spring (fall for me) shows up soon, or the our pants might pay the price.

  9. Yes, pandemic isolation is boring and irritating (not to mention fattening), but being able to look forward to the change of seasons is a delight, is it not! Spring forward with hope Down Under!

  11. So many subjects to choose from. I hope the flowers return and you may stop by anytime as I share.

  12. It is so good to have a choice of poetry or prose, although I usually find myself choosing the poetic route, Robin, and I know what you mean about choosing a theme or topic – it’s easier if that is given in the prompt – but the expanding tummy is a topic I know about, as I’m still stuck indoors until Saturday – tomorrow! Keep warm – and don't forget to feed your namesake!

    1. Thank you Kim. Sadly my namesakes in Australia are far more independant birds as opposed to Europe and possibly North America too.
