Indiscretion

Oh for deep, deep sleep

Where my guilty heart can rest

And your tears forget

Love hard taskmaster

Taunts me with indiscretions

And your weeping eyes

Would that you could smile

Forgive my infidelities

And trust me again

But the deed is done

That gleam in your pretty eyes

Is now one of hate

  1. This is a hard one, my friend. That is something I don't think I could forgive; I have seen too much of its damage. Well written, though.

  2. Very touchy here, O.E. This is the wish of many but will it happen?
Would that gleam ever change now, to love and desire?

I forgave but she didn't stay. That turned out best for the both of us.

  3. I have few things that I find too difficult to get over... this is one of them... I may forgive but some things not forgotten cause too much damage... this was really well written. It hits a mark...

  4. An intense glimpse of the reality of far too many lives Robin. Trust is such a fragile thing, forgiveness might happen, but to rebuild trust to it's original depth is unlikely. Once that line has been crossed there is true return, the guilty must live with their guilt, and the other with their broken heart. The damage done cannot be undone. This was well written, and I liked it because of the lesson it teaches. Better to turn away from temptation, a moment of pleasure isn't worth a lifetime of regret!

  5. Uh, oh. Poor guy. I don't think I would want to sleep there, with those hateful eyes on me. : )
