Encounter on a dark night
I am a creature of the night
Others know me, but keep away!
They tend to fear me and my bite
And care not for the games I play
I once was tame and didn’t roam
Now dark shadows are friends to me
They are my blanket and my home
My face is scarred so let me be!
I trust that me you will not chase
Oh, you will find that is not wise
In case you see me face to face
Kinder people have paid that price
Oh, stupid creature of the day
Could you not leave well alone?
You have seen me and have to pay
Now I will eat you, flesh and bone
Hi O.E. ~~ The creature of the night is to be greatly feared. Ask any four or five-year-youngster. And even much older I do believe.
ReplyDeleteYes those younger than we who are dropping didn't take care of themselves. Lou Reed had a liver transplant at 70 and died at 71.
Great scary poem! Well done in its feel and timing!
ReplyDeleteOooh! I liked this very much! Conjures up some pretty spooky thoughts and images! Yes, sometimes our curiosity gets us into all sorts of dangerous predicaments! Thank you for joining us at Two Shoes Tuesday! :-)
ReplyDeleteI got chills! =O
ReplyDeleteI often feel this way taking the dog out for the last walk of the evening...we live in a very wooded place and sometimes the noises spook me! This did too.
ReplyDeleteNice, reminds me of when I see night creatures during the day.

Puts one in the mood for a spooky Halloween. I will have to let my daughter read this. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCreatures of the night are far less scary to me than what I encounter in daylight!
