Silence can be a beautiful thing
When we were first married
My wife often found it hard to sleep
What with having a man in the house
And us both working all week
The following night I asked
"Have you ever been phewied?" said I
She shook her head "What is that?"
"When I I draw pictures on you"
So I showed her what I meant
In the darkness I drew some rabbits
She guessed them hopping and their long ears
Then drew the bike that she rode
So she said "Please do some more"
Gently rubbing earlier drawings out
Then I drew the seas waves on the beach
Then I guessed she was asleep
The next night she wanted more
Strangely not one word did either say
My gentle caress was all she'd want
No words, for her care's all gone

Surviving in your own place
I have the space and have the time
But stay inside, it may get me
We cannot see it but it's there
Will hurt us if we do not care
It is like a pretty maiden
Always smiling and wanting me
But I shake my head, don a mask
Refuse everything that she asks
Hundreds of us now are dying
I pray that it will not be me
I speak to no-one all are scared
For this disease we're unprepared
I had the space and time was free
Nobody's left but you and me
The air is fresh and so are you
So we will start the world anew

It's late, it's morning
It's late, I'm awake, I've slept in after coming back after a long night out, but I still have smile on my face. I don't feel like work so I'll call in sick so I can try to get rid of this grin on my face. Mind you she was really beautiful. Girls are when they smile and they are holding you tight and she is looking at you as though you were the best date that she ever had. I must confess she was but I don't want to see her anymore, as nothing that good will ever happen again. But I will write a poem about her; about her scent, the sparkle in her eyes ...and the sweet and trusting way she held my hand.
You were not the first
I can say you were the best
But now it's morning

That we exist
The strange thing about humankind
Is that we should exist at all
What terrible creature was born
To upset the world forlorn
Deciding to take charge of all
Whose selfish greed appals others
And hates freedom for other kind
Not wishing to share state of mind
The Earth is a beautiful place
Eden for those who really care
That we exist is such a shame
Whatever's wrong, we are to blame
Forests felled, ice caps melt away
Seas polluted with all our waste
New disaster now visits us
Prepare to go and make no fuss

Taking it to the streets
Once taking complaints to the streets
Was the only way to be heard
Now we have Facebook to help us out
Gone the days of milk crate or step ladder
For these days are so much better
In the little town where I once lived
Local bands would march up and down the street
I was a drummer in a boys band
Leader noticed another band come our way
Quickly changed our route and we still played
Should either band have no escape
Up side road or lane would be our route
And if our playing upset the locals
A single drumbeat would be the sound
Until we found much more open ground
Mind you we did practice quite a lot
For your sleep in we cared not one jot

April
I was neither fool nor poet
She the prettiest girl I'd seen
April the month when I met her
I liked the way she flicked her hair
I walked right up and so did dare
To ask her for a date with me
To my surprise she did agree
Not only that, knew who I was
It was set up by the mothers
Who had both chatted unbeknown
Thinking we would both get on fine
For a week or two our eyes did shine
Then I twigged that all was not well
As though I heard a warning bell
She'd had boyfriend that tried it on
Trusting she fallen in the trap
Luckily she'd escaped from him
Pity they didn't tell me first
Some secrets really are the worst
April is for fools and poets
No need to tell me, I know it!

Being a small thing
I remember me being a small thing
When I was young oh so many years ago
All was big in my world, dad, mum and brother
First of all things suited me fine back then
Cuddled, fed, cooed and wet my diapers
Not knowing that there were lots more capers
Like crawling on the floor getting grubby
And as a wee child wetting my nappy!
These small things pass as indeed did I
Once I criedfo r milk and change of nappy
Now was brother who made me unhappy
Who saw me as one who stole his mum
So he teased me when she was out of sight
Getting me tro climb on the furniture
Once leaving me on top of the table
As getting down, I just was not able!
Lucky being small lasted a short time
At five I had to go to the junior school
But at playtimes we could all play the fool
Running, jumping just to unwind outside
Seeing the girls skip was no disgrace
And so being small was not half bad
Learning things inside and outside as well
So now then I could my story as well
