Just me and Joan Baez

Joan Baez

So you found me out

The lying oaf that I am

And you went berserk

So you said these words

“You’re a duplicitous swine”

And so much more too

You were pretty hurt

Well I can’t quibble with that

Your tears flowed freely

I’ll have to go to

Joan Baez’s concert alone

Her songs will suit me

Note: I managed to attend Joan Baez's first Australian concert for 20 years in Adelaide this week. What a great nostalgia trip. (P.S. I was not alone.)

  1. Great poetry.I hope you didn't have to attend alone but it must have been a fun concert.

  2. This is clearly a work of fiction, since you would never be a duplicitous swine. But I hope you had a good time at the concert!

  3. Excellent way to relax after all that quibbling, name calling crying and going berserk!! ;) You have created an amazing poetry here with those three words!!

  5. Glad you didn't go alone. What I wouldn't give to hear her sing "Diamonds and Rust," and of course, "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," which is a field day for political parody folks like me!

"Duplicitous swine"? Methinks you incapable of that type of insincerity, honey. Amy
