Mud

Tell of those times gone
When in those northern French fields
Our men died for us

Fathers and uncles
Fearful and covered with mud
This day remembered

  2. What a great debt we owe to those who gave for the cause of freedom. Today too many people think freedom means everyone else should hand them a living.

I love your poem and I also enjoy everything you write about England during the war. It seems so overpoweringly real.

  3. Nicely said; but don't forget those who died in the sand, at sea, and in the air.

  8. What a shame we have yet to learn how to get along without sending our young men to die in the mud.
