The duty of every
lover is not to engage in idle banter when the elements of trust and devotion
are better manifested in tokens of far greater worth.
“John, John”,
“Marcia
Marcia, Marcia”,
No!
These are not
enough
“I pledge thee my
troth”.
“Like a loaded
Visa card?
John, I do, I
do!”
These are witty, and the principles are true; but the
ReplyDelete'loaded Visa card' made me chuckle.
Oh, now that's good! At some point love has to get down to the business of living.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, I well remember John and Marcia. From quite a few seasons ago.
ReplyDeleteThis is clever..for some reason made me think of 'Spring and Port wine' ..(what us red in skool!) there must be better comparisons but it's a deliciously knowing social commentary..jae
ReplyDeletevery clever.
ReplyDeleteI got a kick out of this. You certainly can't have love without a loaded Visa card.
ReplyDeleteTsk tsk a tad cynical methinks:)
ReplyDeleteA loaded Visa card is the last thing I would want from Lex, so this made me laugh out loud. It's SO true of so many of my girlfriends: They are materialistic and cannot see past their potential mate's paycheck. That includes one of my sisters! Thanks, Robin. Amy

Oh! Good old John and Marcia! I enjoyed this "updated and contemporary" version. I like the world in which John always gets his Marcia.
