We are gathered
here
So those greeting
words go
Together in
prayer
Bidden to
celebrate
Our life in all
its fullness
And joy in being
So in the spring
love
Joined in happy
wedded bliss
Eying each other
Soon they are smiling
A bundle of joy
and more
Their love is
complete
The names that
they choose
Link gathered
families
And bonds are
strengthened
Sadness is ever
close
When parting
prayers are spoken
As lives reach
their end
We are gathered
here
So those greeting
words go
Together in
prayer
This was beautiful Old Egg! I loved how you tied the path of life together with the invocation, words so familiar to me from my years in church. We do indeed gather to welcome, to bless, and to say goodbye... and from this side of life, it all seems to pass too quickly. You wrote it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThat was lovely. I don't like to think about the "parting" part, though - - :)
ReplyDeleteGreat writing! I'm with Judy...don't like thinking about the parting part but it's all a part of it, right?
ReplyDeleteLife and death both linked with prayers :)
ReplyDeleteSo beautifully expressed ..
Very lovely. Interesting how "parting" unites so many.
