Bring them home

Young brave soldiers they
Who stand there with dignity
They are fighting for us

Ripe they are, so young
Ready to adventure far
For life, love and war

Pain, death, grief and loss
Lacerated now in death's beauty
Our brave sons now gone

So bring them home now
They are teachers and farmers
Lovers and parents

  1. The fact that they should never have been sent to this particular war in the first place is beside the point. Rudyard Kipling himself could not have expresed these sentiments better. Good work, in a fine poem.

  2. Robin. What to say here . . . moving thoughts, expressed with quiet power. One of the best poems I've read all week. Thanks for this.
