Give that man a standing ovation
Look what he’s done for this nation
He’s very well dressed
He’s feathered his nest
Says he’s done his best
But wears a bullet proof vest
Give that man a standing ovation
Look what he’s done for this nation
Our economy’s gone west
Our wages buy less
Now who would have guessed?
He’s on a world wide quest!
Give that man a standing ovation
Look what he’s done for this nation
A new initiative? - just give it a rest
His policies are but a jest
Oh why are we so blessed?
How can we get rid of this pest?
Give that man a standing ovation
Just look what he’s done for this nation.
I try not to delve into politics too much, but I still enjoyed this piece.
ReplyDeleteGotta say, this one made me smile. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteVery well done. Enjoyed the veiled sarcasm of a politician.
ReplyDeleteWho would've guessed that a sarcastic tone would fit so well in a political scam.
ReplyDeleteIf only it were easier to impeach those pests.
Makes me think of a recent noble prize that was granted to a fella over here in the west.
lol enjoyed this sad though
ReplyDeleteA twist of lemon in this piece OldEgg..I love the repetition..the force behind..like feelings which have been gestating for years..Jae
ReplyDeleteHa! Yep...playful tongue in cheek!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one Rob. May I quote it in the Helsingin Sanomat, as touching a certain J. Katainen?
ReplyDeleteFrom an anonymous Australian observer - the Finns love being taken notice of from abroad.
Wow. In these days and times, that is actually rather universal. I can see several "leaders" cast into that lead role.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. You could almost encourage me to be less apathetic about politics :-)
Right now, I'm glad I live in Canada....lol
ReplyDeleteToo controversial for me to comment on, not being an American.
Bravo for saying what you think though!
I like the way you use the repeating theme.
ReplyDeleteEven though I suspect we disagree politically, I thought your poem was well done.
ReplyDeleteMadeleine Begun Kane
Well now. That was completely enjoyable. I have been away far too long and have a lot of reading to catch up on :)
ReplyDeleteBravo sir!
