Just give it a rest

Give that man a standing ovation

Look what he’s done for this nation

He’s very well dressed

He’s feathered his nest

Says he’s done his best

But wears a bullet proof vest

Give that man a standing ovation

Look what he’s done for this nation

Our economy’s gone west

Our wages buy less

Now who would have guessed?

He’s on a world wide quest!

Give that man a standing ovation

Look what he’s done for this nation

A new initiative? - just give it a rest

His policies are but a jest

Oh why are we so blessed?

How can we get rid of this pest?

Give that man a standing ovation

Just look what he’s done for this nation.

  1. I try not to delve into politics too much, but I still enjoyed this piece.

  3. Very well done. Enjoyed the veiled sarcasm of a politician.

  4. Who would've guessed that a sarcastic tone would fit so well in a political scam.

If only it were easier to impeach those pests.

Makes me think of a recent noble prize that was granted to a fella over here in the west.

  8. That's a good one Rob. May I quote it in the Helsingin Sanomat, as touching a certain J. Katainen?
From an anonymous Australian observer - the Finns love being taken notice of from abroad.

  9. Wow. In these days and times, that is actually rather universal. I can see several "leaders" cast into that lead role.

Very nice. You could almost encourage me to be less apathetic about politics :-)

  10. Right now, I'm glad I live in Canada....lol

Too controversial for me to comment on, not being an American.
Bravo for saying what you think though!

  12. Even though I suspect we disagree politically, I thought your poem was well done.
